It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was underway.

"A chance to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was removed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
