Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
