Intensive Russian Strikes Disrupt Power In Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to drinking water, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to local officials.

Moscow has increased attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and implementing sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A wave of strikes struck energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

He said technical personnel and government agencies were preparing for further attacks.
